About the event

Our SCRUM Robotics programme for youths is an exciting and engaging opportunity for young people to learn about project management, teamwork, and robotics.

During this half-day session, participants will work in teams to design, build, and program robots using the SCRUM process.

The programme will cover the following key components:

  1. Introduction to SCRUM: Participants will learn about the SCRUM process and how it can be used to manage complex projects. They will learn about the roles and responsibilities within a SCRUM team and how to communicate and collaborate with team members effectively.
  2. Robot design and build: Participants will work in teams to design and build their robots using various materials and tools. They will learn about basic engineering principles and programming concepts.
  3. Robot programming: Participants will learn how to program their robots using block-based programming languages such as Scratch or Blockly. They will learn basic programming concepts such as loops, conditions, and variables.
  4. Testing and iteration: Participants will test their robots and make necessary adjustments and improvements based on feedback and observations.
  5. Final robot competition: At the end of the programme, participants will compete in a final robot competition where they will demonstrate their robots' abilities and compete against other teams.

Throughout the programme, participants will develop key skills such as communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking. They will also learn about the exciting field of robotics and how it shapes the future.

This programme is ideal for young people interested in technology, engineering, and project management. It is a great way to develop key skills and prepare for future academic and career opportunities.

Programme Sample:

  • Introduction and briefing (15 minutes): Introduce the activity and the SCRUM process. Brief the teams on the challenge's objectives, rules, and requirements.
  • Planning and design (60 minutes): Give the teams time to plan and design their robots. Encourage collaboration and creativity. Provide materials and tools needed for the building process.
  • Build and test (90 minutes): Let the teams start building their robots. Support them with any questions or challenges they encounter. Give them time to test their robots and make necessary adjustments.
  • Presentation and judging (45 minutes): Have each team present their robot on the racetrack. Evaluate their speed, accuracy, and overall performance. Award prizes for the best robot or the most innovative design.
  • Debrief and wrap-up (15 minutes): End the activity with a debriefing session. Ask the teams to reflect on their experience and share their insights. Give feedback and encourage them to apply what they learned to future projects.
